This is one of the iconic places to eat in Austin and when the Senate and house are in session is know to have some bigwig patrons. The menu is quite extensive and as I wasn't sure what to get, went with the chilli sampler. I tried the classic mild no beans chilli which was a tad bland, the white chilli is excellent and can be with extra sour cream due to the heat and the black bean, beef and sausage chili which was phenomenally good. Others tried the chili mac which they enjoyed. We also shared the queso and chips which we devoured. It was a great meal and reasonable priced.

The two meats that you MUST get are their ribs and their extra moist brisket. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone when I pick them up. The extra moist brisket is by far the best brisket I've had at ANY barbecue restaurant. They use a mustard base potato salad which is what I prefer over mayonnaise. Unlike Salt Lick, Rudy's accepts credit cards/debt cards; so no problems there. Many people almost exclusively go here for their creamed corn, so I would also recommend trying that if you enjoy creamed corn. Rudy's offers a lot of seating and the line moves quickly for you to get your food. Highly recommended.
